  • Dreambox features a spacious professionally treated live room designed by legendary studio designer Dave Ahl. We offer a wide selection of high-end microphones and outboard gear to record the sound you’re looking for.

    Whether you are recording solo or with your full band, we work with you to capture your sound, shape your tracks, and prepare your music for release. Bands can record live together or track parts individually, depending on your style and goals.

    We also welcome podcast, voiceover, and audiobook projects.

  • At Dreambox we collaborate with artists to compose, record, and produce original music from the ground up. Whether you have a fully-formed idea or just a melody and lyrics we’ll work together to flush out the arrangement and shape it into a finished song.

    Need custom music for your podcast, video, or media project? Dreambox owner and producer John Synhavsky composes original music for NBC/Universal commercials, television, and digital media across a wide range of genres. His compositions bring a polished and professional sound to projects and have been featured on shows like Below Deck, The Today Show, Top Chef, Cougar Town, and Shameless.

  • Whether you record here or somewhere else, we’ll adjust the levels and polish your music to get a balanced and professional sound. We work with you through an iterative process to get your music sounding just right.

  • After you’ve settled on a final mix we’ll run it through our professional outboard gear to make your track shine. Mastering adds that final polish before you share your music with the world.

  • Just need space to do your thing? Artists can rent out the live room for rehearsal and music engineers can rent the studio for recording projects.

    Dreambox is available for “dry hire”—you provide the team, we provide the space and gear.

  • Finding uninterrupted time to create can be tough when you are balancing work, family, and everyday life. We get it. Dreambox is the only residential recording studio in Minneapolis offering artists a dedicated place to stay while they focus on their project. If you need space to finally finish that album, write new material, or immerse yourself in the creative process, you can live and record in one inspiring location.

    The fully equipped living space features two bedrooms, one bathroom, a pull-out couch, a full kitchen, and a deck overlooking the Mississippi River. Guests also have access to bikes and canoes/kayaks in the garage, and the studio is within walking distance of some of Minneapolis’s best breweries, coffee shops, and restaurants. Small traveling bands, up to four people, are welcome to stay, rehearse in the studio before their show, and store gear securely in the two-car garage. We’ll also take you canoeing on the Mississippi River! 

    Lodging and studio time are booked separately, with pricing based on the length of stay and scope of your project. We ask all guests to treat the space with care and respect so it remains a welcoming creative retreat for everyone who comes through Dreambox.
